Detectives in Nairobi are investigating the fatal shooting of Sagar Panara, a 36-year-old employee of MART Networks, who was killed by unknown assailants in what appears to be a targeted attack on Tuesday evening.
Police reports indicate that Panara, of Asian descent, was ambushed as he returned home from the Aga Khan Sports Club, suggesting he may have been followed.
He was driving a white Toyota Corolla when the attackers confronted him at the entrance to his residential compound.
Following a brief struggle, the assailants shot Panara in the neck, just below his right ear, before fleeing the scene.
Neighbors and police quickly responded to the sound of gunfire, transporting Panara to Aga Khan Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving emergency care.
Panara’s wife, Nejal Panara, confirmed that he had just arrived home moments before the attack.
After securing the crime scene, investigators discovered six disturbing leaflets left by the attackers.
The notes carried a threatening message: “VACATE NAROK LAND, ONE PANARA DOWN, AND NAROK,” hinting at a potential connection to a land dispute in the Narok region.
Authorities are examining whether the Panara family’s possible connections to a specific piece of land in Narok could have triggered this violent incident.
The murder has sent shockwaves through the Parklands neighborhood, raising concerns about the increasing violence linked to land disputes in the area.
