

Field Marshal Muthoni Wa Kirima, a courageous freedom fighter, has passed away at the age of 92.
This sad news was announced by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday morning.
Field Marshal Muthoni wa Kirima held a significant position as a leading female fighter during the Mau Mau war.
Gachagua expressed deep respect for her remarkable leadership in the struggle for land and freedom.
He highlighted her crucial role as the personal assistant to the freedom hero Dedan Kimathi after he was betrayed by collaborators.
“We remember her with pride and great admiration for her dedication to our nation’s liberation,” Gachagua shared in a tweet.
“We will forever be grateful to these incredible heroes and heroines who made great sacrifices to free our land.”
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga revealed that Field Marshal Muthoni was rushed to a hospital in Pangani due to health complications, but sadly, she passed away upon arrival.
Kahiga further announced that Muthoni’s body will be taken to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, where her final arrangements will be made.
This marks the end of a remarkable life dedicated to the pursuit of freedom and justice.
