In Muhoroni, Kisumu County, law enforcement officials have apprehended five individuals in connection with the arson of a house, which was reportedly an act of revenge following the murder of a man early Thursday morning in Kamagoma village.
The five suspects allegedly participated in an attack on a residence later that afternoon as retaliation for the killing of Joseph Otieno Ochero, who was fatally speared around 4 AM.
According to police reports, the suspects set fire to a house and kidnapped a 21-year-old man during the altercation.
The victim suffered multiple cuts and was subsequently taken to Masogo Sub-County Hospital for medical attention.
Fortunately, police intervened, successfully rescuing the abducted man from the group, which primarily consisted of boda boda riders.
Authorities also seized two motorcycles believed to have been used in the incident.
The suspects have been detained at Masogo Police Station and are expected to face charges in court.
Ochero, aged 40, was attacked under ambiguous circumstances near his home, sustaining serious stab wounds.
He was transported by local residents to St. Phillister Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police have retrieved the weapon used in the murder, which is currently being held as evidence as investigations continue.
The situation remains tense in the area as the police work to maintain order and prevent further retaliatory violence among the community members.
