Despite uncertainty over when the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections will be held, aspirants are declaring their interest in the President’s seat in big numbers.
The latest entrant is former Nyanza NEC member Tom Alila.
Alila who served as an NEC member for one term in Nyanza in 2013 under Sam Nyamweya presidency feels he is the right man to bring sanity to Kenyan football.
It remains unclear whether incumbent Nick Mwendwa will be defending his seat after serving the mandatory two, four years terms, but sources close to Kandanda House say he will be on the ballot.
Alila joined the growing list of aspirants that includes Extreme Sports founder and CEO Hussein Mohammed is championing transparency in football governance, former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nyamweya who has vowed to eradicate match-fixing in the sport if handed a second chance at the top job.
Nyamweya was at the helm of the federation for over 20 years before Mwendwa took over the stage.
The list also includes Gor Mahia secretary Sam Ocholla, US-based ex-football Sam ‘Kempes’ Owino, and ex-FKF Chief Executive Omondi Aduda.
And with the field getting more contenders it is a matter of time to get the best.
