The Anti-corruption Court in Mombasa has called upon former Mandera South MP Adan Haji Sheikh to appear on February 13th to address corruption charges.
Investigations by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) reveal that, during his tenure as the Kwale county executive committee member for Tourism, Haji allegedly failed to disclose connections with Lofta Resort Limited.
This hotel had been prequalified and awarded contracts for accommodation and conference services to Kwale County Government from May 10th, 2013, to May 2017.

Further findings indicate that Haji, along with his wife Fatuma Ibrahim Roba and son Alibashir Adankhalif, were listed as directors of Lofta Resort Limited.
The hotel received a total of Ksh.51,456,006 from the Kwale County Government during the specified period.
Haji is accused of violating sections 42 and 48 of the Anti-corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003, for not disclosing a conflict of interest during the tendering process.
The anti-graft watchdog reports that Haji has been evading arrest since December 2023, following the approval by the director of public prosecutions to charge him based on EACC’s recommendations.
The EACC has lodged the charge sheet at the Mombasa court and has now obtained a summons for Haji’s appearance on February 13th, 2024.
