Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has criticized Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for his attacks on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urging Sakaja to focus on addressing the sanitation issues plaguing Nairobi instead of engaging in politics.
Kidero emphasized the importance of respecting leaders in office and suggested that succession politics should not distract elected officials from fulfilling their responsibilities to the public.
Speaking at Ndiru during the 3rd phase grassroots elections of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in Rangwe Constituency, Kidero expressed concern over demeaning remarks made by some leaders towards senior UDA party members.
He reminded the audience that when President William Ruto was elected in 2022, it was as part of a joint ticket with the Deputy President, emphasizing that attacking the Deputy President also amounts to disrespecting the President.
Kidero, who cast his vote during the event, commended the electronic voting system and announced that UDA membership in Homa Bay County stands at 200,000, with more individuals expected to join the party.
He described UDA as a platform for liberation from psychological and ideological slavery and encouraged more people to join the party.
The UDA party is conducting elections across eight constituencies in the county, with 20 delegates elected in the second phase of the elections at the ward level now participating in the election of constituency officials.
