Suspected thugs robbed a rider of Sh360,000 that he was taking to a bank in Nandi County.
The incident happened in Chepcholol village, where a Mpesa attendant reported he was taking the money home and then heading to the bank aboard a bodaboda when he was waylaid by four men.
One of the men blocked the motorcycle with a car and hit the rider on the hand flooring him and the pillion passenger.
This forced the rider to run for his life giving room to the gang to focus on the Mpesa attendant, police said.
The attendant was hit on the head and robbed of a bag containing Sh360,000, four Mpesa mobile phones, and other personal valuables.
The gang drove off with the cash.
No arrest has been made so far.
Police said they are pursuing the matter and suspect there was an insider who shared the information about the movement of the attendant and the money he was carrying.
Meanwhile, police in Meru are investigating an incident in which a dead man was taken and abandoned in a hospital by bodaboda riders.
Doctors at the Meru Level Five Hospital reported that a male adult aged about 30 years was brought into the facility by five bodaboda riders with a deep-cut injury on the left side of his neck.
After an assessment, he was confirmed dead.
And upon realizing the man was dead, the four riders escaped to an unknown destination but one was arrested by the hospital watchman, police said.
He told police he was called by other bodaboda operators as a good samaritan to escort the deceased to the hospital.
Police said he was detained as the hunt for the other riders goes on.
The incident happened on July 26 morning.
It is not clear why the man was killed.
