Police are looking for a gang that attacked and robbed a policeman of his cash and mobile phones in an attack in Mikindani area, Mombasa.
Constable Jaliwa Kazungu of Shelly Beach Police Station had gone to visit his female friend in the area when he was attacked.
He told police he was attacked by about 20 people who were armed with crude weapons including rungus.
The officer sustained a broken collarbone a cut in the upper lip and head injuries before being robbed of his mobile phone and cash.
The motive of the attack is yet to be known. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was admitted in stable condition after the August 21 incident, police said.
A hunt on the gang is ongoing.
Elsewhere in Cheptais, Bungoma, a man stabbed and seriously injured another one in a fight.
Police said the two were on a drinking spree at a local bar when they started to argue.
They then walked outside the bar before one of them picked up a knife and stabbed the other in the stomach.
The assailant escaped from the scene moments after the drama. Police say no arrest has been made so far and they are yet to know the motive.
The victim of the stabbing was rushed to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
