Police are looking for a gang that raided a home in Bumula, Bungoma County, and killed a teacher in a robbery.
The gang broke into the home of one Fred Wekesa, a head teacher at Lunao Primary School, and tied him alongside his wife using ropes before assaulting the man.
The gang of about four later robbed a couple of mobile phones, a television set, and assorted clothes of unknown value and disappeared to an unknown destination, police said
Police officers rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of the man with multiple injuries lying in a pool of blood.
The body was removed to Bungoma Referral Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Police said no arrest had been made and that a team of detectives had been sent to the area to pursue the gang.
Such attacks have been on the rise in the region with calls for action to tame the trend.
At least ten suspects were Wednesday arrested in an operation prompted after they raided a house, robbed from the owners, and set it on fire in the Mjambere area, Mombasa.
Police said they are looking for more suspects who are linked to a criminal gang operating in the area.
Detectives said they are investigating robbery with violence and arson following the early morning attack.
It is the latest such attack in the area which is linked to criminal gangs, police said.
The suspects had earlier raided a four-roomed Swahili rental house while armed with crude weapons and broke into a shop there for goods.
Police said the female owner was seriously injured in the drama before being pushed aside.
The gang grabbed valuables and set the shop on fire before escaping.
Locals managed to contain the spread of the fire as police joined in investigations.
A 17-year-old boy was first arrested at the scene over the incident before he led police to others.
Police said they arrested nine more suspects in the Toa Tugawe area over the attack.
Also recovered from them were four machetes, a television set, and other assorted electronic equipment that they stole from the house.
