President William Ruto Friday appointed Nairobi businessman Ugas Mohamed to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Markets Authority for a period of three years.
Mohamed, Ruto’s ally contested Wajir’s gubernatorial seat under the ANC party a member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance but was defeated by Ahmed Abdullahi.
He is tasked with ensuring the licensing and monitoring activities of market intermediaries are well coordinated in times the country’s economy is on its knees.
CS National Treasury and Economic Planning Njuguna Ndungu appointed Natasha Awour Aduwo, Elena Natalia Pellegrini, Meshack Moses Kiprono, Gibson Kimani Maina, and Michael Bowen to be members under Mohamed.
President Ruto also through a gazette notice dated February 24 appointed Mutumba Simmon Indimuli to be the Secretary of the Board of State Corporation Advisory Committee.
He further picked Sylvanus Maritim as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of the Information and Communications Technology Authority.
In the same notice, CS Kithure Kindiki appointed Ali Swakeh Nyamai, Ann Njeri Mathu, Elija Lagat, Fredrick Ngugi, and Lucia Nzoongo as members of the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse Authority Board.
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum also made significant appointments.
CS Davis Chirchir appointed Peter Kenneth Kimani, Mark Nderitu Muturi, Milton Luchiri, and Sammy Choge as members of the Board of Directors of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation.
He also picked Jane Gatwiri Gatobu, Michael Maliba, Ashif Kassam, and Mercylinne Chekirui to be members of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
Also, the Ministry of Information and Communication appointed Bhoke Christine, Esther Njoki, Eric Langat, Joel Nyambane, Alex Wafula, and Nicholas Ng’arua to be members of the Board of Directors of the Communication Authority of Kenya.
Aisha Jumwa-led ministry picked Kenneth Wanjiru, Yvonne Tonkei, Chepchumba Koskei, Racheal Musyoki, and Kahindi James to be members of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board.
Josephine Achunga, Caroline Wambui, Symon Almaida, and Jacinta Atemba will serve as members of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund under CS Simon Chelugui-led ministry.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection picked Isaac Kaberia and Milka Kimonda to be Trustees of the National Social Security Fund Board of Trustees.
CS Ababu Namwamba made significant appointments including John Nyururu, Hariety Zita, Stephanie Kamene, John Osimbo, Grace Mwendwa, and Raphael Ekadali to be members of the Kenya Film Classification Board.
Namambwa also appointed Abdirahin Farah, Moses Mulomi, Afzal Esmael, John Seii, Douglas Kasim, Pauline Nagila, Jennifer KoiKai, and James Bassy as members of the Board of the Kenya Cultural Center Council.
They will all serve for a period of three years.
