US rapper Killer Mike faced detainment following an altercation at the Grammys where he clinched three awards, according to the Los Angeles police.
The incident occurred inside the Crypto.com Arena, the venue for the ceremony, as confirmed by Los Angeles police spokesperson Mike Lopez.
Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Render and is 48 years old, was booked on a misdemeanor charge and later released. He is set to appear in court later this month.

Video footage from the scene depicted Killer Mike being escorted in handcuffs by police officers shortly after his triumph at the Grammys, marking his first win in 20 years.
His song “Scientists & Engineers,” featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane, earned him awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
Additionally, his album “Michael” secured him a third award for Best Rap Album.
During his acceptance speech, the rapper and political activist addressed those who believe they are too old for rap, stating, “This is for all the people who think you’re too old to rap… we keep hip-hop alive.
Never ever stop doing what you do.”
Eyewitnesses at the arena reported hearing shouts of “free Mike” as Killer Mike was led away by the police.
Known for his outspoken stance on issues affecting black Americans, such as police brutality and racism, Killer Mike’s detainment added a dramatic twist to the Grammy Awards, which were otherwise dominated by Taylor Swift, making history with her fourth win for Best Album.
