A 38-year-old security guard drowned as he fetched water from a pool of water at a quarry in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
Police said the incident happened at an abandoned quarry within the Balozi area of Olooltepes sub-location.
John Madahana who was a security guard working with a firm based on Ngong Road had gone to the open quarry to fetch water to irrigate his vegetables.
Witnesses said he accidentally slid into the water and drowned.
Locals with the assistance of Kenya Red Cross officials managed to retrieve the body.
The body was moved to Kajiado sub-county mortuary Rongai awaiting postmortem.
Elsewhere, at least two people drowned separately following heavy rains experienced in parts of Nairobi on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Police said most rivers running through the city are flooded and warned residents not to underestimate them.
Search and rescue teams are combing various places for possible more cases, police said citing the heavy downpour experienced on Tuesday.
Police said the first incident was reported on Tuesday evening in the Sunton area where a body was found floating on Nairobi River.
Locals said the body had been swept downstream to the Gituamba area.
The victim was identified as Mark Munywoki, 40 a resident of Saika area.
Police said the body did not have any visible injuries at that time.
Another body was found floating on Ngong River in Mariguini area.
A resident said he spotted the body in the water and is believed to have been swept downstream to the area.
Police were called and managed to retrieve the body to the mortuary.
Police said the man was not immediately identified.
The body had physical injuries on the back of the head.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
The metrological department has warned of more rains in the city this week.
Some roads were flooded in the city following the rains.
The rains also caused power blackouts in some areas after heavy winds fell trees on power lines.
