Hatim Mohamed appeared before Magistrate R.M. Ndombi at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, where he faced charges of unlawfully disclosing a minor’s personal data to a third party.
Mohamed pleaded not guilty to the charges outlined in the court’s charge sheet.
The incident allegedly occurred on September 19, 2023, at Gigiri courtyard in Westlands, where he reportedly disclosed the minor’s information to Lynn Ng’ang’a, a lawyer handling his civil case, without proper authorization from the court.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Ng’ang’a had obtained CCTV footage depicting the minor, leading to the charges against Mohamed.
Despite being initially released on police cash bail, Mohamed was granted a cash bail of sh.300,000 for the current charges.
The case is scheduled for mention on July 28, where further legal proceedings will be discussed and possibly set.
The legal implications of the case highlight the importance of safeguarding personal data, especially concerning minors, and the repercussions individuals face for unauthorized disclosures.
The judiciary’s handling of the matter underscores procedural adherence and the enforcement of privacy laws to protect individuals’ rights.
