The head of prevention and resilience at the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Njenga Miiri Thursday warned against changes in tactics among terrorists calling upon the security agencies and the public to stay alert.
He said the extremist organizations are deploying more sophisticated means including technology, non-muslims, and involving women to avoid detection.
“Despite the fact that the perpetrators of terrorism have been greatly suppressed, there is no room for complacency,” he said.
Miiri spoke during the County Engagement Forum (CEF) on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE).
He said that NCTC will continue sensitizing the public matters concerning terrorism.
Vihiga County Commissioner (CC) Gilbert Kitiyo said no one is secure in the threat as he called upon religious leaders and opinion leaders to be at the forefront in sensitizing the public.

The use of a suicide vest and the targeting of civilians were notable.
Additionally, the region bordering Somalia continued to suffer attacks, particularly through IEDs and ambushes targeting Kenyan security forces and important infrastructure
