A Pangani resident has raised alarm after his Nairobi home was allegedly raided by individuals believed to be security agents in the early hours of Tuesday, an incident that has renewed concerns over due process and the rule of law.
Ali Osman said the unidentified individuals forcefully entered his residence before conducting an extensive search, during which they allegedly confiscated documents, a laptop and other personal items.
He claims the officers neither properly identified themselves nor presented a search warrant or any written authorization to justify the operation.
Osman described the incident as part of what he termed a sustained pattern of intimidation linked to his involvement in the 2022 General Election.
He alleged that the raid was aimed at silencing and harassing him rather than pursuing any lawful investigation.
“I believe my life is now in danger,” Osman said, adding that the operation left his family deeply shaken.
He called on relevant state agencies to guarantee his safety, uphold constitutional protections and ensure that any investigations are carried out transparently and within the confines of the law.
The alleged raid has sparked unease among residents and drawn concern from civil society observers, who warn that searches conducted without warrants undermine public confidence in law enforcement and violate fundamental rights, including the right to privacy and protection from arbitrary state action.
By the time of publication, no government agency had issued an official statement to confirm or deny involvement in the raid or to clarify the purpose of the operation.
The lack of official communication has fueled speculation and prompted renewed calls for accountability and clarity from the authorities.
However, a police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said they were looking for Osman over undisclosed reasons.
