The Israeli military has confirmed that Iran has launched missiles in response to Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon, which began early Tuesday.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement indicating that sirens are now sounding throughout Israel, urging citizens to remain vigilant and follow the guidance of the home front command.
“Upon hearing a siren, you must enter a protected space and stay there until further notice,” the IDF statement advised.
The ground operation in Lebanon, described by the IDF as “limited, localized, and targeted,” is aimed at Hezbollah.
In light of the escalation, approximately 25 Lebanese villages have been evacuated, according to military officials.
Lebanon’s Prime Minister has stated that the country is experiencing “one of its most dangerous phases,” noting that around one million people have been displaced due to the ongoing conflict.
Reports indicate that airstrikes have struck a building in a Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
In a related development, the BBC has reported a shooting incident in Tel Aviv, resulting in multiple casualties.
Initial investigations suggest the motive may be linked to a terror attack, according to the police spokesperson in the area.
As tensions escalate in the region, the situation remains fluid, with ongoing military actions and public safety measures in place as both countries navigate this precarious moment.
The international community is closely monitoring developments, concerned about the potential for further violence and instability.
