The state plans to call 35 witnesses to testify in late Jeff Mwathi’s inquest.

Jeff died at an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi and his family claims that he was killed at Lawrence Njuguna aka DJ Faxto’s house and thrown outside.
The matter was mentioned Thursday, June 8 before Magistrate Zainabu Abdul to take directions on how the matter will proceed.
Lawyer Danstan Omari represents Mwathi’s family while Duncan Okatch represents DJ Fatxo.
The investigating officer Clement Mwangi told the court that he would call a total of 35 witnesses to testify in the planned inquest.
The court directed him to serve all parties with the witness statements that will be used in the inquest.
The officer told the court that he received communication from the families of Christopher Wangombe and Geoffrey
Wanyiki who are persons of interest in the case will also be getting advocates to represent them in the inquest.
Omari told the court that the Mwathi family did not know why they were in court because they don’t have the letter recommending charges.
Abdul told the court that she received the file from the Chief Magistrate who allocated the inquest to her.
The hearing will begin on August 10 when the first witness will take to the stand.
The late Jeff’s mother Anne Mwathi was in court with other relatives.
The detectives who have been probing the death at the home of Benga singer DJ Fatxo concluded there was no forensic evidence to suggest that the late interior designer was murdered on February 22.
The investigators found out that a group of six people had returned to DJ Fatxo’s apartment on in Roysambu after a night of partying on Kiambu Road.
Six people, including the DJ, his driver, two women, Jeff, and another man, according to detectives, continued the celebration at the DJ’s Redwood apartment.
The probe says Jeff was intoxicated at the apartment and started vomiting.
This prompted those present to take him to a different room to rest from the effects of the alcohol, with the party continuing in the adjacent sitting room.
The team discovered that one of the ladies, who was unfamiliar with the DJ and his friends, sought to leave the house.
CCTV footage, which was part of the evidence the detectives relied on, showed the DJ and the two ladies leaving the apartment shortly after.
Two men who remained at the house continued with the festivities.
The two told police they left the house shortly after and went to the parking lot to see if the DJ had returned and passed out in the car.
It was common for the DJ to return home and pass out in his car after a night out.
As the two gentlemen were still in the lift on their way to the parking lot the CCTV captured Jeff’s body falling off the 10th floor of the apartment block.
Police also believe the small window in DJ Fatxo’s house from which Jeff is said to have fallen from was too narrow for a person to be pushed through.
Detectives believe Jeff jumped from the window, which could explain why his body was discovered with his pants at the knee–his last contact with the window was at the waist.
The two men returned to the house after checking the parking lot.
Jeff’s absence was discovered hours after he failed to wake up, prompting those present to check in the bedroom where he had been sleeping.
The DJ was seen on CCTV returning home after dropping off the two ladies.
He was caught on camera conversing with a neighbor before covering his eyes and walking into the apartment.
At the house, he is said to have told the two men that he heard that a person had fallen off the building but he could not know who it was.
Fatxo, who termed Jeff as his good friend, has since denied involvement in his death.
Two autopsies were conducted on the body as part of the probe into the death.
