The Jubilee Party has accused President William Ruto’s administration of hypocrisy and political revisionism, criticising the President over remarks he made in a church setting.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, Jubilee Secretary General Moitale Ole Kenta accused the President of using a church pulpit to lecture political leaders on decorum while, according to the party, presiding over a government facing widespread criticism over its economic and governance record.
The party said it was ironic for the Head of State to use a church setting, which it described as a sanctuary for truth, humility and reflection, to criticise other leaders over their conduct.
Jubilee further accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of failing to honour its commitments and of presiding over economic hardship, taxation and what it described as a decline in public trust.
“To stand before a congregation and lecture the nation on decorum, while presiding over a regime that has subjected millions to crippling economic hardship, punitive taxation, and broken promises,” the party said.
The opposition party also criticised what it termed the use of religious platforms for political messaging, arguing that Sunday sermons should not be turned into platforms for political score-settling.
Jubilee described the Kenya Kwanza administration as a government characterised by “unfulfilled commitments, institutional arrogance, and systemic failure”, and questioned its authority to lecture other political actors on accountability and governance.
The party also invoked the 2022 General Election, saying Kenyans had not forgotten events surrounding the polls and would not allow what it called political propaganda to rewrite the country’s recent political history.
“Kenyans are neither blind nor naive. They remember precisely what transpired during the last General Election,” Jubilee said.
