Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa shared this news in a message on Tuesday.
He said these changes will start right away, and they show his commitment to making the county government work better for the people who live here.
Governor Barasa, in a memo released on Tuesday, said the changes “will take immediate effect, signifying a commitment to optimizing the county’s governance structure for the benefit of its residents.”
One of the big changes is that will no longer be in charge of Trade, Industrialization, and Tourism.
Instead, he will keep his role as Deputy Governor and will also be responsible for coordinating the work in all the government departments.
In the Trade, Industrialization, and Tourism department, Governor Barasa has chosen Zaccheaus Muya Lutomia, but he still needs to be approved by the County Assembly before he can start.
Dr. Boniface Okoth, who used to be the County Secretary and Head of Public Service, will now be in charge of Education.
Godfrey Awori will move from the Education Department to become the head of Public Service and Administration.
And Dr. Laurence Omuhaka, who was in charge of Public Service and Administration, will now take on two jobs – County Secretary and Head of Public Service.
These changes also affect four Chief Officers in the government.
