A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death during a disagreement with his brother in Shivakala Sub-location, Shirere Location, Kakamega County.
Police said the incident occurred on Thursday evening and involved Ibhrahim Lutta, 24, who was allegedly attacked by his 32-year-old brother.
Police visited the scene and found Ibhrahim’s lifeless body lying on its back, with a visible stab wound to the chest.
A blood-stained knife suspected to have been used in the killing was recovered at the scene.
The suspect was arrested by members of the public and handed over to police.
The scene was processed and documented before the deceased’s body was moved to the Kakamega County General and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending autopsy.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal dispute between the two brothers.
Meanwhile, police in Embu County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered along the banks of River Cevi in Ngeniari Village, Embu East Sub-County.
According to police, the incident was reported on Thursday.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased was an unknown male adult believed to be about 40 years old.
The body was found lying beside River Cevi with the head partially submerged in the water. Investigators observed an injury at the back of the head, while the man’s left ear had been cut and one tooth was missing, suggesting he may have been assaulted before his death.
Crime scene personnel from the DCI processed the scene before the body was removed to Runyenjes Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding his death and those responsible. No arrests had been made by Thursday evening.
