KeNHA Announces Month-Long Partial Closure of Waiyaki Way

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way for one month to facilitate road maintenance works.

According to a public notice issued on Friday, October 2, the affected section runs between Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange along the Mombasa-bound lanes.

The closure will take effect from Thursday, October 8, 2026, and remain in place until Saturday, November 7, 2026.

KeNHA said the temporary restriction is necessary to allow maintenance works to be carried out on the highway.

The authority advised motorists to use the lanes that will remain accessible and consider alternative routes to minimise traffic disruptions during the construction period.

Motorists have also been urged to adhere to the traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed to manage traffic at the affected section.

KeNHA said normal traffic operations will resume once the maintenance works are completed.

The announcement comes shortly after the authority issued a separate notice on the temporary closure of a section of the Thika-Kilimambogo (A3) Road at Gatuanyaga near Delmonte Farms.

The Thika-Kilimambogo section was scheduled to remain closed from September 11 to October 2 to facilitate pavement construction on the damaged stretch between Km 16+100 and Km 18+250.

Motorists using the route were directed to designated diversion lanes to minimise disruption and maintain road safety.
