Kenya Airways has been affected by a widespread IT outage impacting airlines, media outlets, and banks globally.
In a statement, the national carrier acknowledged the disruption, which has severely affected their booking system’s efficiency.
“We are currently experiencing a system outage due to a larger global disruption. Customers should anticipate slower service as we activate our Business Continuity Plan,” Kenya Airways explained.
To mitigate the challenges caused by the outage, Kenya Airways has advised customers to visit their booking offices for direct assistance.
This approach aims to support passengers encountering difficulties in booking or modifying their travel plans.
The global IT issues have led to grounded flights and queues at major airports worldwide.
In the UK, railway services have also reported delays attributed to “widespread IT issues.”
Major airlines like Delta and American Airlines have implemented a “global ground stop,” halting further departures while allowing in-air flights to continue as scheduled.
Additionally, the BBC has reported that Sky News, a UK-based channel, is currently off-air due to the ongoing IT outages affecting media services.
The situation highlights the widespread impact of IT disruptions on critical services, affecting both travel and media operations globally.
Kenya Airways and other affected entities continue to work on resolving the issues to minimize further inconvenience to customers and operations.
