The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has declared the temporary closure of a segment of Mombasa Road, slated from Thursday, June 13, 2024, to Sunday, June 16, 2024.
This measure, as stated by the agency, will affect the vicinity near Katani Road Junction.
Specifically, disruption in traffic flow is anticipated along the lanes headed towards Mombasa, owing to the construction of the mid-span footbridge foundation.
While KeNHA has set this course of action, some commuters have voiced concerns, suggesting that roadworks could be scheduled during weekends or nocturnal hours to mitigate congestion along the route.
“By opting for a weekday, you’re unnecessarily snarling traffic. Couldn’t this be managed during off-peak hours or on a Sunday?” queried a social media user.
Nevertheless, KeNHA has urged motorists to comply with the directive, assuring that the operation will be concluded by Sunday.
They advise motorists to adhere to the outlined traffic management strategies and collaborate with law enforcement officers and traffic marshals stationed on-site.
As KeNHA strives to execute necessary infrastructure enhancements, they remain committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring the safety and convenience of road users.
