Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) plans to handle 253 unclaimed bodies, and shockingly, 239 of them are children.
Among the children in the hospital, there are 132 boys and 107 girls.
Some of these kids are twins, and one extraordinary case involves quadruplets, where we have one more child.
In a message in local newspapers, KNH is asking the public for help in identifying these unclaimed bodies.
They’ve given a 14-day notice, after which they’ll seek permission from the courts to deal with the bodies.
KNH also pointed out that there are 13 adults in the same situation, bodies that nobody has claimed.
Among these, there are eleven men and two women.
The hospital even has a record for one of the men, Cheptale Aruwalo Nalel, whose body is currently at Mwai Kibaki Hospital.
According to the hospital’s management, and in accordance with the Public Health Act Cap 242, they’re asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and claiming these bodies within two weeks.
It’s a sensitive situation, and they’re urging people to come forward and help out.
