A family is in anguish after their son, a student at Kenyatta University, went missing on the night of September 28.
According to his mother, he disappeared after attending a party with friends.
“On September 26, my son called his father to ask him to purchase a laptop from a friend for sh 15,000.
His father sent the money on Thursday, and then my son went missing on Saturday.
When we tried to reach him, he was unreachable,” the mother explained.
Jonathan Nabwera, the missing student, was reportedly invited to a graduation party by his friend Joash.
A close friend of Joash confirmed that she had seen them together at the event.
“I called Joash and told him, ‘My friend is graduating. Can you come?’
He agreed to attend. That day, he arrived with a friend, but they didn’t stay long,” she recalled.
She added that Joash and Jonathan left the party early because Joash’s cousin called him to meet up at a nearby entertainment spot along the Eastern Bypass.
Joash’s cousin, Calvin Wachana, became concerned when he noticed Jonathan had been absent for some time after leaving their table.
“I asked Joash, ‘Where is your friend Jonathan? I don’t see him with you,’” Wachana said.
Joash replied that the last he had heard from Jonathan was when he mentioned he was looking for the washrooms.
Wachana inquired about the last time Joash had spoken with Jonathan, and Joash indicated it had been about 10 minutes earlier.
They waited for Jonathan to return from the washroom, but when he didn’t, they attempted to call him.
Unfortunately, all of his phones were ringing but went unanswered.
As the family and friends await news, they are urging anyone with information to come forward to help locate Jonathan.
