Two-time Olympic gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge finds himself entangled in a legal battle alongside three other individuals regarding the acquisition of a disputed property worth Sh.100 million in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Court records reveal that Joyce Komen, the spouse of former athlete Daniel Komen, has initiated legal proceedings against Kipchoge and his associates, alleging that they purchased the property without her consent.
In a lawsuit presented before Judge Reuben Nyakundi of the Eldoret High Court, Mrs. Komen asserts that her husband disposed of their shared property without her awareness.
Joining Kipchoge in the lawsuit are fellow athlete Brimin Kipruto and two local businessmen who also claim ownership of a portion of the contested property.
According to Mrs. Komen’s affidavit, she was astonished upon discovering the sale of the property, which she asserts to have contributed a significant sum towards. She contends that the property, valued at Sh. 100 million, was sold for a mere Sh.10 million.
As a university lecturer, Mrs. Komen has petitioned the court to invalidate the sale, arguing that the transaction and subsequent transfer of the property’s title deed were conducted unlawfully.
