The Ministry of Health has announced the availability of a comprehensive list of licensed healthcare facilities where Kenyans can access medical services through the newly established Social Health Authority (SHA).
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance healthcare access and efficiency in the country.
The complete list of facilities can be accessed through the SHA Resources website, ensuring that citizens can easily find nearby services.
SHA has formed partnerships with healthcare professionals from both national and county governments.
This includes specialists in areas such as cancer care, renal care, and primary care networks operating at the subcounty level.
Furthermore, faith-based and private facilities that are licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) as of June 7, 2024, have also been contracted to provide essential health services.
These services are funded by the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), aiming to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for all Kenyans.
In addition, healthcare services are now available at all facilities licensed by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada), expanding the range of services covered under the new system.
The SHA initiative was officially launched on October 1, 2024, marking a significant shift as it replaces the former National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
This transition is designed to streamline healthcare services and improve the overall experience for patients.
To aid this transition, the Ministry of Health has taken steps to migrate individuals who had not yet registered with the National Health Authority.
This authority is responsible for managing the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), ensuring that all Kenyans can benefit from the services available under the new structure.
The government encourages all citizens to explore the available resources and take advantage of the healthcare services offered through SHA.
