A Cessna 152, with registration number 5Y-PSJ / 15283169, crashed in Nairobi National Park earlier today.
The aircraft, operated by West Rift Aviation School, went down shortly after midday.
The pilot, a trainee from the school, sustained injuries in the crash.
Emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene to rescue those involved in the incident.
The pilot was successfully extricated from the wreckage and is receiving medical attention, though the severity of the injuries has yet to be confirmed.
This crash comes just days after another aviation accident, involving a Cessna Caravan operated by Z Boskovic Air Charters.
The earlier incident took place at Lichota Airstrip in Migori County, where the aircraft veered off the runway during takeoff. On board were 10 passengers and one crew member.
Z Boskovic Air Charters released a statement acknowledging the incident, saying, “At approximately 12:30 pm, our aircraft, registration number 5Y-ZBW, was involved in a serious issue during takeoff in Migori.”
Unlike today’s crash in Nairobi National Park, the Migori incident did not result in any injuries or fatalities, much to the relief of the passengers and crew.
The company expressed gratitude that all aboard were safe despite the nature of the event.
Both incidents highlight the ever-present risks in aviation, even with smaller planes, and stress the importance of rapid emergency response and strict safety protocols to minimize danger.
These back-to-back events have raised concerns within the aviation community, emphasizing the need for continuous safety measures and thorough investigations to prevent future accidents.
