Machakos Man Dies After Alleged Assault At Bar

A 42-year-old man died while undergoing treatment at Mwala Level 4 Hospital following an alleged assault at a bar in Nzeveni Market, Machakos County.

The deceased, Amos Makau Maingi, reportedly sustained injuries on August 3 after he allegedly fell onto a table while intoxicated, breaking several glasses.

According to police, the bar attendant allegedly assaulted Maingi after he caused the damage.

Maingi was taken to Mwala Level 4 Hospital on August 4 for treatment but died while undergoing treatment at about 5pm.

The incident was reported to police on Friday.

Police have classified the incident as suspected murder and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Maingi’s body was transferred to the Machakos Mortuary, where it was preserved pending autopsy.

And a 30-year-old woman was found dead with multiple physical injuries in an area in Isiolo County, with police launching investigations into her death.

Police said the body of Nalmara Lerette was discovered on Friday within her village.

Police visited the scene and found the woman’s body lying in the area.

She had visible injuries to her face, neck, back and legs.

Members of the public helped police identify the deceased, who was positively identified by her brother after he was notified and arrived at the scene.

Police established that the deceased was a resident of Nokupuli Village in Samburu East, where she lived with her husband.

Investigators were also informed that the woman was last seen on Thursday, August 6, at about 3pm in the company of her husband as they headed towards the Tenge area.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to the Isiolo General Hospital mortuary, pending autopsy.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
