Nairobi: A 28-year-old man was Wednesday night shot and seriously wounded in a robbery at his shop along Kamiti Road, Kahawa West, Nairobi.
Police said they were alerted about the incident by a bodaboda rider who took Ndirangu Thuranira to hospital after being shot in the left bicep.
The victim told police two men entered his shop posing as customers before one of them whipped out a pistol.
They then robbed him of Sh25,000 and a mobile phone.
He raised an alarm prompting the gunman to shoot him once.
The gunmen then jumped onto a waiting getaway motorcycle whose number plate was not immediately taken and escaped.
Police who visited the scene said an empty cartridge of 9mm was recovered at the scene and kept for ballistic analysis.
A hunt on the gang is ongoing.
Along Juja Road, three men were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
It is not clear how and who shot them.
Officials at the MSF clinic along Juja Road informed police the three had been brought there on Tuesday evening.
It is suspected police shot them during the earlier protests that were reported in some parts of the city.
The three were transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital with wounds chest, thigh, and buttocks.
The victims include a juvenile Derrick Agwaro Mwamba aged 17 who had injuries suspected to be gunshot wounds on the left side of the chest and is in stable condition.
One Edwin Otieno, 26 had wounds suspected to be gunshot wounds on the left side of the thigh also in stable condition while Joel Omondi Oluthe Luo 46, had injuries on the right buttocks suspected to be gunshot wounds also in stable condition.
