Police are investigating an incident in which a man died after being hit by a stone that caved in at a quarry in Njoro, Nakuru County.
The incident happened at the Naishi Game area where a worker identified as Daniel Chege Ndere, 38 was working when a stone fell on him.
As a result, he sustained a fractured right leg and was bruised on his left elbow, witnesses said.
He was quickly rescued and rushed to Nakuru PGH Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited the scene and declared an investigation had been launched into the death.
The team said they wanted to establish if the deceased and other workers at the site had protection gear at the time of the tragedy.
Dozens of workers wake up to the quarry to make a living.
They are however never provided with protection gear.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Meanwhile, police in Bungoma are investigating an incident in which a bodaboda rider was hit with a hammer in the head before being robbed of the motorcycle.
The rider was on duty at Namuyemba village when he was hit and robbed of the motorcycle.
He was found lying unconscious with serious head and back injuries and was rushed to Bungoma County Referral Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
A hammer suspected to have been used to attack the victim was recovered at the scene and kept as an exhibit.
