Police are investigating an incident in which the body of a man was found in his house in Kiburuti village, Tigania, Meru County.
Francis Ntongai had on March 30 retired to bed but failed to wake up the following day.
This prompted his mother to go and check on him.
She said he was unresponsive when she tried to knock his door prompting the family to break in.
It was then that they found the body lying on bed.
Police were called to the scene and declared the body had no visible injuries.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.
Elsewhere in Matutu, Nyamira County, the body of a man was found in his house after a sudden death.
The man was identified as Kenneth Keraka Nyangena, 66.
The police said the deceased was found lying on the bed with no visible injuries.
The body was moved to Nyansiongo Mission Hospital Mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, a suspected thug was shot and injured in a confrontation with police following a botched robbery in Majengo slums.
Police said they recovered a homemade gun from the suspect.
According to police, two suspects had confronted a woman at her hotel on Monday evening as she closed for the day.
The two had posed as customers before one of them drew a pistol and demanded the day’s collection.
The woman told police she managed to sneak out of the facility as the gunmen focused on other customers who were present and alerted police on patrol.
The team rushed to the scene prompting a chase and shooting.
The officers said they shot and injured one suspect who dropped a pistol and a kitchen knife.
He managed to escape with injuries.
The police are appealing to local clinics and hospitals to report any case of an injured man seeking medical attention.
Police say they have intensified operations in the city to address cases of violent robberies.
This has led to arrest of tens of suspects, police said.
