A man from Nakuru faced severe backlash from a furious crowd on Monday, September 9, after he tried to steal a firearm from a female bank guard.
According to a police report, the incident began when the man approached Officer Dakwin Kipsoo, who was stationed at the bank to provide directions to a building in Naivasha.
Suddenly, the man seized Officer Kipsoo’s AK47 rifle by its muzzle and struggled to wrest it away.
The altercation quickly escalated into a physical fight outside the bank, drawing the attention of nearby passersby.
Police Constable Ambrose Kipruto, who was stationed inside the bank, noticed the disturbance and rushed out to help his colleague.
Seeing that he couldn’t take the weapon, the man attempted to escape towards Nakuru’s Central Business District.
However, his attempt was unsuccessful as both officers and local residents apprehended him.
Enraged by his actions, the crowd subjected him to a severe beating.
The police managed to intervene and rescue the suspect from the mob’s assault.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to Naivasha Police Station, visibly injured from the crowd’s attack.
The incident was documented and processed by officers and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Naivasha Police Station.
