A man is nursing wounds after goons attacked him for staging a protest against Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi.
Titus Kabugi Maina was beaten up for protesting in Karatina Town against the mode of allocation of bursaries in the constituency.
The victim told police he was distributing leaflets in the town calling for the public to demonstrate against the MP’s move when he was attacked.
A mob attacked him with stones and sticks before police arrived to save him.
He was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
The leaflets were recovered and kept as exhibits ahead of police plans to charge him.
He accused police of being in the pockets of the MP over their plans to charge him in the Tuesday incident.
Cases of mob injustice have been on the rise amid calls to address the menace.
Police want those arrested be surrendered to them for processing and prosecution.
