In Nyalula village, Siaya County, a sad event happened when a 60-year-old man named Bernard Odweso was killed by a mob.
They accused him of murdering his wife, Pamela Anyango.
The trouble started on a quiet Sunday afternoon because of an argument over just sh.30, which was meant for church donations.
Samuel Ouma, a relative, hurried to tell the police at Siaya Police Station after seeing Odweso get very angry.
When the police got there, they found a scary scene: Odweso was furious and had confronted his wife and their 22-year-old daughter, Vida Odweso, at home.
The argument got worse because of money problems, and it turned into a deadly fight.
Reports say Odweso used a knife to stab Pamela Anyango to death, but their daughter managed to escape.
The violence didn’t stop there. Dickens Odweso, their 24-year-old son, bravely tried to protect his family when he heard the noise.
Sadly, his father attacked him too, using an iron rod and knife to hurt his neck and leg.
When the news spread, the neighbors and people passing by were shocked and angry.
They gathered quickly and gave Odweso a severe beating. He was badly hurt, with many head injuries from the angry crowd.
Emergency workers rushed Odweso to Siaya County Referral Hospital in a serious condition, but he couldn’t be saved and died soon after arriving.
Pamela Anyango’s body was taken to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo is leading the investigation into what happened.
This sad event has left the village in shock and made the authorities think hard about domestic violence and how people react.
As they investigate, they’re trying to understand why this happened to the Odweso family.
In Nyalula village, this tragic violence is a reminder of how delicate family relationships can be.
