Man Flees After Allegedly Beating Wife To Death In Migori

Police in Migori County have launched a manhunt for a 60-year-old man accused of killing his wife during a domestic dispute in Ntimaru Sub-County.

The suspect allegedly assaulted his 35-year-old wife, Consolata Mbusiro, to death during a quarrel at their home in the Makonge area on Saturday morning.

Police responded to the scene and found the woman’s body lying on her back with multiple injuries sustained from a brutal assault.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect used a wooden club to repeatedly beat the deceased all over her body.

Police said the suspect remained at the scene for some time after the attack before fleeing to an unknown destination ahead of the arrival of officers.

The suspected murder weapon, a wooden club, was recovered at the scene and will form part of the investigations.

The body was moved to Wima Mortuary in Kegonga pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a search for the suspect as investigations into the murder continue.

And police in Siaya County launched a murder investigation after a 23-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained in an apparent attack.

The deceased, identified as Philip Olweny, was pronounced dead on Friday night while being transferred from Inuka Hospital to Siaya County Referral Hospital.

According to police, Olweny was found at about 4:40 p.m. on Friday lying by the roadside near a bridge at Yiro West Sub-location along the Sidindi–Mumias Road.

A Good Samaritan rescued him and rushed him to Inuka Hospital for emergency treatment.

His family was later advised to transfer him to Siaya County Referral Hospital for specialized care, but he died while en route.

Police officers who examined the body at Rang’ala Mortuary established that the deceased had sustained a deep cut to the abdomen, indicating he had been attacked with a sharp object.

The body remains at the mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal assault and seek to identify those responsible.
