A man was shot and killed in Kamechu village, Tigania, Meru County.
Police said Patrick Nyaga, 60 was shot three times by an unknown gunman outside his house on Sunday January 26 night.
Police visited the scene and recovered three spent cartridges of a rifle.
Nyaga was rushed to Isiolo Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries after the Monday morning incident.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
The area has been experiencing incidents of banditry amid calls to enhance operations to tame the trend.
Police say they are pursuing the gunman with an aim of establishing the motive and getting justice for the murder
Meanwhile, police in Maua are investigating the murder of a man in the Athiru center.
Police said they established that one Kinoti Mugaa, 32 had a fight with with another man at a banana farm and the fight escalated to the Athiru shopping center.
Both parties were armed with pangas and the deceased was cut on the head twice and on the ribs and succumbed on the spot.
The assailant immediately ran to Kiraone police post to report where he was arrested and placed in custody.
The two pangas were recovered and kept as exhibits and the body was moved to Nyambene Sub-County hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
And police are investigating an incident in which a 15-year-old boy and student at Kanji Mixed School in Embu died after a fight with a fellow student.
The form two student is said to have sustained an injury in the hand and was picked up by his parents to Radiant Hospital in Nairobi County for further treatment.
The parents later reported their son succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police said they are investigating the saga and had taken statements from various witnesses and the suspect who is a student.
