Police in Imenti East, Meru County, are investigating the murder of a 42-year-old man who was found seriously assaulted and abandoned in a maize plantation near Kabaone One Shopping Centre.
According to the police, members of the public alerted police on Tuesday morning after discovering the victim lying helplessly behind the shopping centre within Nthamiri Sub-Location.
Police officers who rushed to the scene found Francis Mutua, a 42-year-old man, lying on the ground inside a maize plantation with serious injuries on the head, face, buttocks and both legs.
Police further noted that the deceased had no clothes on the lower part of his body at the time he was found.
The victim was rescued and rushed to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was later moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
Police said investigations into the killing have commenced and a manhunt for those responsible is ongoing.
And police in Vihiga County arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was found with serious injuries in Hamisi Sub-County.
The incident was reported after a body was discovered lying adjacent to a house in Ivole area of Gisambai Location.
Police officers visited the scene and identified the deceased as Godfrey Mwanziki.
The body was found lying in a supine position with visible injuries on the head and both legs.
Investigators later arrested a suspect in connection with the killing.
The body was moved to Mbale Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination as detectives from DCI Hamisi continue with investigations.
And a man has died after allegedly being hit on the head with a stone during an altercation outside a bar in Gatundu Township.
Police said the incident was reported after the victim, identified as 34-year-old Stanley Kimani Njoroge, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Gatundu Level 5 Hospital.
According to investigators, the assault occurred on the night of May 19, 2026 at around 9 pm outside Ciamurugu Bar within Gatundu Township following an altercation.
Witnesses, including nearby business owners and the deceased’s cousin Samuel Muria Kahuya, told police that the victim was struck on the head with a stone by a suspect, who remains at large.
Officers from the police station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Gatundu South visited the scene and found blood stains at the location of the attack.
Police established that the deceased had initially reported the assault before seeking treatment at Gatundu Level 5 Hospital. He was later referred to St. Jude Hospital where he spent the night before being taken to Thika for a head scan and imaging.
He was subsequently returned to Gatundu Level 5 Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
The body was moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination as police launched a manhunt for the suspect.
