NARC Kenya party leader, Martha Karua, has strongly criticized the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, urging Kenyans to reject it.
According to Karua, the report overlooks crucial issues that prompted public protests post-elections, specifically failing to address the cost of living, the audit of the 2022 General Election, and the importance of respecting political parties and multiparty democracy.
Expressing her dissatisfaction, Karua asserted, “The NADCO Report, in its conclusion, offers nothing to alleviate the suffering of citizens but provides benefits to the leadership.
This is utterly unacceptable; it’s a fraud upon Kenyans and should be dismissed. It serves as a distracting national smokescreen.”
Karua highlighted the Finance Act 2023, enacted after public participation, revealing strong opposition from the majority of Kenyans.
She cited this act as a significant contributor to the escalating cost of living in the country.
In her critique, Karua pointed out the failure of the dialogue, emphasizing the lack of commitment from the Kenya Kwanza regime and Ruto himself.
She stated, “These talks have failed because the Kenya Kwanza regime and Ruto himself have nothing but contempt for Kenyans. Eight months of talk with zero results is unacceptable.”
Karua drew attention to the dire unemployment situation in the country, criticizing Mr. Ruto for promising jobs abroad instead of creating an environment conducive to local job growth.
She described his frequent travels in a struggling economy as unjustifiable.
Furthermore, Karua called for a 60-day halt to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) reconstitution process.
She urged both coalitions to reach a consensus without parliamentary involvement, emphasizing the need for a fair and agreed-upon restructuring.
