In the midst of the ongoing leadership disputes within Nairobi County Assembly, Cleophas Malala, the Secretary-General of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, has revealed a startling development.
The controversy emerged as UDA Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in Nairobi made an attempt to replace Minority Leader Antony Kiragu and Minority Whip Mark Mugambi with Waithera Chege as Minority Leader and Joyce Muthoni as Minority Whip.

Initially, Malala had pledged to respect the decision of the MCAs, provided they followed the proper procedures, including securing the Speaker’s approval and presenting supporting signatures.
However, a recent twist has taken shape. Malala disclosed that the UDA party has received numerous complaints from MCAs alleging that their signatures on the resolution to oust the Minority Leader and Minority Whip were forged.
“We are in receipt of sworn affidavits by the respective members to that effect,” Malala said in a statement.
UDA party has decided to convene a consultative meeting on Thursday, October 26, hosted at the party’s headquarters, to address these allegations.
Malala underscored that, for the time being, the existing Minority leadership structure remains unchanged in accordance with a court order. The UDA party remains committed to resolving the matter amicably through the forthcoming consultative session.
