Professor David Kyeu is a writer specializing in Kiswahili and English, Languages that are of great importance in the field of education and communication in general.
In addition, he is a researcher, and a lecturer who has taught in various universities, especially abroad.
He was born in Thika, where his parents were working in the Del Monte pineapple company
He studied a Bachelor of Education (Kiswahili and mathematics) Degree in Kiswahili, 2007, from the same university.
Before he went to America, he served in the organization Care International, located in the Dadaab refugee camp.
Later, he received a scholarship, known as the Fulbright Scholarship, taught Kiswahili for one year, at Brown University.
Currently, Prof Kyeu teaches at the University of California, Berkeley.
He says that training in America is different compared to Kenya. There are differences in education systems, teaching methods, resources in classrooms, the number of students in classrooms, cultural contexts, and both countries have various challenges.
Apart from teaching, Prof Kyeu has written several books in Kiswahili and English. Also, he has contributed articles in different magazines.
He published his first book known as Kibali in 2010, in Outskirts Publishing Press, America. In addition, he has written several magazines in Kiswahili and English
Among the books he wrote is Beginning Swahili Workbook and Guide: Homework Exercises, quizzes, Final exam and Noun Classes, published by Outskirts Publishing Press, Colorado, and America in 2012
Kyeu, too is the editor of a bestselling book on Amazon, written by his two sons, published in December 2023, called two Years Abroad: American Kids’ Adventures in Kenya. The book contains 13 stories, written by David Kyeu Jr and Sally K Wambua, after visiting Kenya for two years, from 2019-2021. The book was published by Native Book Publishers.
