In response to the recent upheaval on Twitter caused by Elon Musk’s policy announcement on July 1, 2023, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is set to launch a new app called ‘Threads’ to directly compete with Twitter.
According to a statement from Meta, the new platform will be unveiled on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
This move comes following an agreement between Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, and the Twitter CTO to engage in a cage fight earlier this year.
Threads, now available for pre-order on the App Store, will be integrated with Instagram.

describes the new app as a text-based conversation platform, aimed at facilitating discussions on a wide range of topics from current interests to upcoming trends.
Meta stated, “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what will be trending tomorrow.”
The launch of Threads coincides with Elon Musk introducing several new features on Twitter, as Meta hopes to attract dissatisfied users seeking alternative platforms in light of the recent Twitter chaos.
This strategic move by Meta extends its reach beyond the realms of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, propelling the company into a Twitter-dominated landscape.
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, is reportedly leading the Threads project, showcasing Meta’s commitment to providing a robust and competitive alternative to the established social media giant.
As users eagerly anticipate the launch of Threads, the stage is set for an intense competition between Meta and Twitter, as they vie for the attention and loyalty of social media enthusiasts worldwide.
