The Migori County government has initiated a comprehensive crackdown on employees found with fraudulent academic credentials.
This initiative follows a thorough staff audit, revealing that a staggering 93 county employees possess counterfeit primary and secondary certificates.
Confirming this development, Migori County Secretary, Osca Olima, disclosed that these individuals have been served with show cause letters and are required to appear before the Public Services board for further scrutiny.
In addition to this revelation, Olima disclosed that an additional 197 employees are under investigation for questionable college certificates.
These certificates are currently undergoing rigorous examination before any decisive action is taken.
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, the County Secretary reiterated that any individual found guilty of forgery will be subjected to legal consequences.
Notably, it has been suggested that among those affected by this crackdown are department heads within the Migori County government.
Silvance Araja, the secretary of the Migori County government workers union, acknowledged awareness of the purge, confirming that some of their members have already been served with letters concerning alleged fraudulent academic documents.
Araja further stated that those implicated will have the opportunity to present their cases before the county public services board in defense of their credentials.
This concerted effort by the Migori County government underscores its commitment to upholding integrity and authenticity within its workforce.
By addressing this issue head on, the county aims to ensure that only qualified and deserving individuals occupy positions within its administration, thereby fostering trust and accountability within the community.
