Police are looking for a gang believed to be abductors who in a case of teachers turned rogue abducted a nine-year-old grade three pupil from a school in Donholm, Nairobi County.
The pupil’s father had gone to fetch his son from school when he found him missing.
He was informed that his class teacher had left the school in the company of the minor on Friday, September 8 evening.
Efforts to trace the teacher proved futile only for the father to receive a call from abductors who were demanding a Sh10 million ransom.
This prompted the father to make a report at Buruburu police station.
Police say a team of detectives drawn from the Nairobi Region Command in collaboration with those from DCI Buruburu launched a thorough operation in Kayole
Sabasaba area, leading to the rescue of the minor who had been locked in a room believed to have been rented by another teacher.
The teacher also works in the same school as the main suspect.
Police say they are looking for the missing teacher and that one was nabbed.
The minor was later reunited with his family.
A team is investigating if the teachers are involved in other crimes. Cases of abduction have been on a decline following police operations.
