Morara Kebaso, leader of the National Justice Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT) party, has reported that his vehicle was seized by the police while he was participating in the #EndAbductionsKE protests in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
In a statement released on Monday, December 30, Kebaso revealed that his vehicle, registration number KCJ200W, was taken by authorities during the demonstration.
He also confirmed that several members of his team, including a research assistant, INJECT Party Urban Mobilizer, and Captain Cyrus Waweru, were arrested alongside him.
Kebaso has demanded the immediate release of both his team members and the vehicle.
“This morning, Injectors joined the protesters in Nairobi CBD to stand in solidarity with families of the abducted.
To our shock, the police have detained our research assistant and seized the vehicle KCJ200W,” he said.
“We demand their immediate release. We will not rest until justice is served.”
The vehicle, a Prado, was purchased with funds raised by well-wishers to support Kebaso’s efforts in exposing President William Ruto’s unfulfilled promises.
The vehicle was intended to assist the INJECT party leader in reaching rural communities and enhancing his civic education programs.
In addition, Kenyans raised Ksh1.2 million in September to help equip the vehicle with a public address system and other materials to create a mobile campaign-style setup for public outreach.
This comes after a series of troubling incidents for Kebaso, including an alleged attack on October 19, 2024, during a rally in Ololulunga, Narok.
He accused a local politician of orchestrating the assault by sending goons to disrupt the event.
The attackers, he claimed, were transported in the politician’s car and blocked roads, while the goons pursued his team in two vehicles.
One of Kebaso’s researchers sustained a head injury and was later transferred to a safer hospital, while another sustained injuries to their hand.
Kebaso continues to call for justice and the release of his team.
