Police are investigating an incident in which one of the private security guards to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was attacked and shot in the Kabete area, Nairobi.
The victim identified as Walter Jonyo, was shot and injured in the right wrist as he battled with gunmen who wanted to abduct him along Kikuyu Road.
He told police he was entering his house on Monday, April 10 at about 9.45 pm when he was ambushed by four gunmen.
Jonyo was then driving a salon car and was waiting for the gate into Swamp Apartment to be opened when the incident happened.
According to the victim, police, and other witnesses, the driver resisted the orders of the gunmen.
The gang fired one round of ammunition in the air and two at the driver’s seat injuring him in the hand.
He told police the attackers jumped onto a motorcycle and sped off.
Members of the public responded and rushed him to Nairobi Hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.
No arrest has been made so far and police say they are investigating the incident.
Owino has private guards who take care of him whenever he moves around.
