Authorities in Kahawa West, Kiambu County, are investigating a femicide case after the body of a woman was discovered in her boyfriend’s home on Friday, November 1.
This tragic incident adds to the alarming rise in femicide cases across the country.
The victim, identified as Lilian Achieng Aluko, is believed to have been brutally murdered by her boyfriend, who has since vanished.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect as they work to gather evidence and build a case.
Lilian, a popular presenter at Radio 44, was found with severe facial injuries and a stab wound to her back.
The 33-year-old had informed her family the day before that she would be spending the night at her boyfriend’s residence.
This communication marked the last time they would hear from her.
Her mother recalled that Lilian had left home around 11 a.m. to visit a friend but did not return that evening.
The family became alarmed when they received an unsettling call from an unknown number, conveying the news of Lilian’s death.
Police reports indicate that neighbors heard sounds of a violent altercation coming from the apartment but were unable to intervene, as the door was locked and loud music masked the cries for help.
A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene.
The victim’s family is now calling on the police to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.Friends remember Lilian as a lively individual, and her sister expressed profound grief, stating, “Her light has been extinguished too soon.
What we seek is justice for her.”
This incident occurs amidst a troubling trend of violence against women, with recent data revealing that 97 women have been murdered in the past three months.
President William Ruto has emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling these issues, stating that both criminal and moral dimensions of femicide must be addressed to protect women in the country.
