In Kericho Town, preparations are underway for a significant housing project aiming to bring 320 affordable housing units to the Majengo-Talai Estate.
President William Ruto is set to kick off Phase I by laying the Foundation Stone for this ambitious project.
According to Kericho County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo, construction has officially commenced, with the contractor tasked to clear the site and erect a protective fence.
The project aims to provide employment opportunities for local youth skilled in construction and building work.

Kitiyo explained, “The State Department for Housing, along with our local committee, has handed over the construction site to the contractor.
Work will start immediately, and we aim to have the project ready for the foundation stone laying by next week.”
Contractor Kenneth Owigo from PADAA Enterprises Limited emphasized the commitment to executing the project to government standards.
He outlined the initial steps, including planning, surveying, and fencing, before the foundation stone is laid.
Owigo detailed, “The project will consist of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom houses, catering to affordable and social housing needs.
Additionally, there will be shops incorporated within the 320-unit development.”
The Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) represents a crucial government initiative targeting the provision of quality, affordable housing for low and middle-income families.
