Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company recently revealed plans for a temporary water supply disruption affecting a significant part of Nairobi.
In a public announcement last Thursday, Nairobi Water disclosed an emergency shutdown of the Sasumua-Kabete pipeline, scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. on Friday, December 15, to 7 a.m. on Sunday, December 16.
The stated purpose of this shutdown is to address substantial leaks along the pipeline.
Failing to address these leaks could potentially lead to severe landslides, causing further damage to the pipeline infrastructure.
According to the notice, the shutdown aims to prevent such consequences.
The impacted areas encompass sections along Waiyaki Way, James Gichuru Road, Dennis Pritt Road, Ngong Road, Langata Road, Peponi Road, Kikuyu Road, Naivasha Road, Mgagathi, and Riverside Drive.
Additional affected regions include Lavington, Kilimani, Westlands, Parklands, Loresho, Kangemi, Uthiru, Karen, Kawangware, and Ritura.
Moreover, Lang’ata, Kaibera, Dam Estate, Kileleshwa, Nyayo Highrise Kibera, Ngumo, and Woodley Estates will also experience water supply interruptions during this period.
Residents residing in these affected areas are strongly advised to utilize their stored water judiciously throughout the planned interruption.
