The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has cautioned motorists and members of the public against a scam involving a fake website and phone numbers being used to impersonate the authority.
In a notice issued on Thursday, September 3, NTSA urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid suspicious links and websites claiming to offer official government services.
The authority identified govpenalize.eu.cc/ken as one of the domains being used by fraudsters. The phone numbers +254 731500713 and +254 754981677 have also been linked to the scam.
NTSA advised members of the public to report suspicious websites and links and to access its services only through authorised platforms.
The authority’s official website is ntsa.go.ke, while its services can also be accessed through the NTSA service portal on eCitizen or directly through an individual’s eCitizen account.
NTSA further clarified that its official YouTube channel is NTSA_Kenya, while its authorised SMS sender IDs are NTSA and 22847_NTSA.
The warning comes as the authority continues to step up enforcement and public awareness efforts on road safety.

In August, NTSA reported a decline in pedestrian deaths in July 2026, attributing the improvement partly to intensified enforcement by the authority and traffic police.
According to NTSA’s July road safety report, 146 pedestrians died in July 2026, compared with 178 deaths during the same month in 2025. This represented a reduction of 32 deaths, equivalent to a 17.98 per cent decline.
The authority linked the reduction to enforcement measures targeting road users who fail to use designated crossing points, including footbridges.
NTSA has urged pedestrians to continue using designated crossing points, obeying traffic signals and observing road safety measures to help reduce fatalities among vulnerable road users.
